Welcome to our May 2023 Community Newsletter! The monthly newsletter will offer a central place for families and the community to see the amazing things that are happening at CICS West Belden. Also new for 2023 will be our own “Community News” located on our website. This page will highlight resources, community events, school events, and other opportunities for you!

West Belden News

Join us for our VIRTUAL CICS West Belden Open House on Friday, May 12, 2023. From 9am-10am.  If you know any family or friends with a child in K-8 that would like to join the WB Family for the 2023-2024 School year invite them to our Open House!

Purchase your 22-23 WB Yearbook TODAY! Our yearbook will cost $18 per copy. However, as tradition, all 8th Graders will receive a free copy! Online purchases ONLY. Follow these steps below to order a yearbook: 

- Click on the image above! 

- Enter the school's yearbook ID# 1470663 

- Enter your student's First, Last, and Grade Level 

- Enter your Payment Information and Submit! 

The last day to submit an order will be May 12, 2023.

West Belden Family Business Directory- Here you will find contact information of parents at West Belden who own businesses! If you own a business or would like to share a skill you have with the families of West Belden please contact the main office and ask for Mr.Nuñez!

Chicago Park District- Free programming year round for all ages, includes- swimming, baseball, basketball, arts and crafts, etc. 

Tutoring Chicago- tutoring for 1st-9th grade students. ALL tutoring sessions are held Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday from 6:00 – 7:30pm CST. Students can choose to be tutored at one of our in-person locations or digitally.

GAP Community Center- Weekly After-School Program for ages 8-14, Monday-Thursday. Domestic Violence Transitional Housing Shelter. Group and individual Counseling through partnering agencies. Weekly Food Bank allowing families to pick up food for their homes.

Northwest Center- Parent University brings free resources, programs, and classes to parents and the community. Open to all parents who are looking to learn valuable life skills or get more involved with their children’s education.

Intentional Sports- Part of the North Austin Community Center, a sports facility for students to attend after school sports programs.

Greater Chicago Food Depository-  To find free groceries or a hot meal at a food pantry, soup kitchen or shelter near you!

Care Solace- 24/7 365 days a year, Mental Health Care Coordination Service for ALL Students, Staff, and their Families. 

Angel Harvey Family Health Center (IWS)- primary medical care, dentistry, optometry, child development, and behavioral health services in a single central location. This “one-stop-shop” for all things health.

MyChi MyFuture- Chicago connects to a variety of rich, engaging, safe, and youth-centered out-of-school experiences that empower them. All events are right here in our community!
