Kristin Eng, Principal

With over 16 years of experience in education, Ms. Eng leads CICS West Belden with a deep commitment to joy, innovation, and inclusivity. She believes every student can and will succeed when supported with the right opportunities, and she works tirelessly to ensure that West Belden is a safe, welcoming, and high-achieving community for all. Under her leadership, the school has seen powerful gains—including reducing chronic absenteeism by 8% and increasing ELA proficiency by 10 points on the Illinois Assessment of Readiness in just one year.

Ms. Eng is especially proud of the strong relationships she has with students, families, and staff and innovative programs like the PRIDE Reward Store and personalized learning initiatives. Through strong community partnerships and a relentless focus on student achievement and culture, she has helped establish CICS West Belden as a model of what is possible when joy, rigor, and belonging come together.

Kathy Clough, Assistant Principal

Ms. Clough is passionate about empowering both students and teachers to grow. She leads through collaborative planning, instructional coaching, and professional development—always with the goal of helping students become self-advocates and engaged contributors to their communities.

Her journey at CICS West Belden is a Distinctive one: from resident teacher to classroom educator, coach, and now assistant principal, Ms. Clough has worn many hats and gained invaluable insight into the needs of her school community. She is inspired daily by the dedication of her colleagues and the resilience of her students, and she remains committed to fostering a culture of continuous growth, collaboration, and joy at West Belden.
